Local Eats: CSA #1

This summer we’re trying out a CSA. Signing up for a CSA supports local agriculture, but it is also delicious and fun to experiment with. I thought it might be a good idea to catalogue what we receive in the deliveries. Remember, you can always supplement these shipments with produce or fresh eggs at local farmer’s markets. It is better to spread support throughout the agricultural community anyway.

The first shipment is very green, but that is what is growing in New York! We received a head of lettuce, golden beets and beet greens, pac choi, garlic scapes, garlic, radishes, and a whole lot of kale. Hey, i’ve never cooked with garlic scapes, an interesting start to the summer of organic goodies!
