Local Eats: CSA #5

Yesterday was all about dessert, but today is vegetables. And burgers, and potato salad, and everything else that reminds you of July 4th. Happy Independence day, and I hope you all can catch the fireworks later (if it doesn’t rain, cross your fingers!!) Even though it is a holiday we received our normal CSA delivery and I even had a chance to snag a few goodies from the Union Square green market. It was hard to resist the tiny yellow plums, heirloom tomatoes and squash blossoms at the market. Even though the market is probably one of my favorite places in the city, I was excited to come home to a bounty of bok choy, lettuce, tons of greens, the cutest onions, golden beets, a fennel bulk, turnips, cucumbers, and different varieties of squash. We even received cherries! Enjoy the holiday, and eat in a way that would make our Founding Fathers proud.
